Morphological and physiological responses of Calliandra haematocephala to water salinity stress and vermicompost

Abstract Salinity is one of abiotic stress that affects plant growth and production. The objective this study was to investigate the effect salinity vermicompost on morphology physiology parameters Calliandra haematocephala. experiment carried out with treatments at 1000, 2000 3000 ppm in addition control (tap water, 280 ppm), 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% control. results indicated increasing level resulted reduction vegetative flowering (plant height, number branches/plant, stem diameter, root length, fresh dry weights leaves roots/plant, flowers /plant, as well /plant), total chlorophylls, carbohydrates, K+%, Ca2+%, K+/Na+ ratio, while increased proline, Na+ Cl−% plants. Catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), Ascorbate peroxidase (APX) enzyme activities significantly elevating from 0 ppm. Application any concentration had a positive parameters, nutrient uptake, proline content, reducing accumulation toxic ions leaves.
